This presentation will provide detailed steps to download your images from you computer’s hard drive to your PC or Apple computer.

The PC Computer

On a PC saving digital images is more complicated than saving a simple data file.  Once you save images to a CD you can’t place anymore images on that disc.

Many of the image editing programs allow you to save your images directly to a CD so you can simply follow the instructions that the program provides.  You may however save your finished images to the hard drive and then later transfer them to a CD/DVD.

That said here are the steps involved:

1.      Put an unused CD in the drive.

Please note: a) your disc drive must be able to WRITE as well as read, b) the CD should be labeled – CD-R or CD-RW or DVD-R or DVD-RW or DVD-RAM

2.      Open WINDOWS Explorer

Please note:  If you don’t have Windows Explorer on your desktop the following will get it there:

..Click START on the lower left of the screen

..Click PROGRAMS

..Click ACCESSORIES

..Drag and drop WINDOWS EXPLORER to your desktop

..Click on WINDOWS EXPLORER to open it up

3.      Click on MY COMPUTER in the left panel of the screen and find the pictures that you want to transfer.  They are most likely in a folder called MY PICTURES.

4.      Click on that folder to open up the folder.

Please note if you don’t see thumbnail images of the files, do this:

.. Click on VIEW on the toolbar at the top of the screen

.. Click on THUMBNAILS on the drop down box.  Now you can see the images in that folder

5.      Back in WINDOWS EXPLORER you need to select the images that you want to transfer with the following process:

..Hold down the CTRL (control) key

..Left click on each image that you want to transfer – remember keep holding down the CTRL key – don’t let go.

6.      When you have made all your selections, let go of the CTRL key and then DRAG AND DROP the group of photos to the CD DRIVE on the left side panel.

7.      A bubble will pop up on the screen saying:  YUOU HAVE FILES WAITING TO BE WRITTEN TO THE CD.

8.      A new panel appears and it shows the files to be copied.  On the left panel, click on the order WRITE THESE FILES TO CD

9.      Then simply follow the instructions provided by the CD WRITING WIZARD.

10.  YOU ARE NOW DONE!   A little long but once you do it a few times, it’s quite easy.

DON’T FORGET THAT YOU CAN’T ADD ANY MORE FILES TO THE CD
